This piece is based on papier-mâché molds of now-lost Mayan sculptures made by nineteenth-century British archaeologist Alfred Maudslay, which were previously used in a 1985 exhibition "Lost Magic Kingdoms and Six Paper Moons from Nahuatl" at the British Museum by Scottish pop artist Eduardo Paolozzi.
